PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Develops studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, associated with the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of Exelon's electric, distribution facilities/systems. Provides analytical support for consultation and recommendations to the Company within and to other business units and/or customers as a result of studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, facilities.  Operates independently and seeks guidance when appropriate. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Performs engineering assignments while exercising independent discretion; (e.g. Collect data, perform analysis, interpret results, draw conclusions, and make recommendations to management)

Develops and modify construction standards, update CUG’s (Compatible Unit Groups) and Catalog ID’s in AS8, ensure all new and existing equipment standards meet PECO, NESC, and NEC design specifications.  
 
Performs engineering tasks associated with large projects or several small projects; (e.g. Analyze and interpret the results of engineering tests, analyze non-specific and ambiguous results)  
Support the requirement to review / update Distribution Standards on a 5-year basis.
Ability to work with Vendors, The ability to work with Aerial, and Underground Equipment Engineers to create new Standards. 

May direct the engineering tasks associated with a large project or a number of small projects. Verify and validate studies, Cad files, or designs against accepted engineering principles and practices. Support the PECO Engineering Design tool and Design Procedures. 

Design high voltage distribution standards / equipment , meeting all engineering standards and criteria)

Participates on teams and may lead teams. Ability to communicate across the organization with Engineers, Vendors, and Field mechanics, etc. to support new standards that are required before innovation ideas can be implemented. For Example, new FCI’s, new Street light LED designs, new Capacitors and Regulators required for Solar connections, new Underground switches with Distribution Automation, new SGSM meters, radios , etc.  



POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

Minimum:

- Bachelors degree in a technical field (non-engineer) (1) or equivalent relevant education / experience (See Section Below) (2) AND 3 or more years of field experience in engineering, construction, or applicable utility experience

- Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems.

- Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches.

- Knowledge of construction, operations or engineering principles and practices.

- Good knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform routine assignments for a specific discipline installations, or service.

- Associates degree in a technical field (1) AND 5 or more years of field experience in engineering, construction or applicable utility experience

- Non-degreed or non-technical degree-equivalent relevant education (2) AND 5 or more years relevant utility experience

Preferred:

Knowledge of Aerial and Underground Electric distribution systems for 15 kV and 34 kV voltages.

Experienced in Auto Cad software

Experience with NESC and the NEC codes.
