PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Develops studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, budgets, associated with the planning, design, licensing, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of Exelon's electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecommunication facilities/systems. Provides analytical support and consultation and recommendations to the Company within and to other business units and/or customers as a result of studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, vehicles or facilities. Reviews financial data for budget and actual costs of projects. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Analyze spatial data through the use of mapping software (Esri ArcGIS, GE Smallworld).
  • Utilize analysis capabilities in ArcGIS to perform complex and advanced spatial analysis and distills results into formats that are easy to comprehend
  • Develop tools and queries to automate repetitive geoprocessing tasks and data requests
  • Discovering patterns and trends through spatial mapping of data and translating findings to the business.
  • Designing digital map layers with geographic data and other data sources.
  • Creating "shapefiles" to merge topographical data with external data by layering external data over a topographical map.
  • Produce reports on geographic data utilizing data visualizations.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (non-engineer) (1) or equivalent relevant education / experience (See Section Below) (2) AND 6 or more years of field experience in engineering, construction, or applicable utility experience. (1) Examples of technical fields (non-engineer) include Engineering Technology, Electronics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, etc. (2) Relevant education / experience is knowledge and skills that may be acquired through job experiences or education programs related to those acquired through a formal technical degree program. Examples include experience gained in a military role applicable to electric power distribution, completion of a journey-level electrician program (e.g., overhead / underground electrician, electrical mechanic), or completion of a company-sponsored technical education program (e.g., Elements of Electrical Engineering (E3) series). The equivalent relevant education / experience is in addition to the position's minimum experience requirements.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches.
  • Knowledge of construction, operations or engineering principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of complex field test equipment.
  • Broad knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform routine assignments for a specific discipline installations, or service.
  • Equivalent Relevant Education / Experience: Associate's degree in a technical field (1) AND 8 or more years of field experience in engineering, construction or applicable utility experience Non-degreed or non-technical degree equivalent relevant education (2) AND 8 or more years relevant utility experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of GIS concepts and analytical techniques, including geospatial data creation, conversion, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Relevant experience using current Esri technology and leveraging the full ArcGIS enterprise suite of tools including ArcGIS Enterprise Portal, ArcGIS Desktop 10.X, and ArcPro.
  • Background in GIS data management in GE Smallworld, G/Technology or ESRI based GIS applications.  
  • Proficiency with database programming languages such as SQL, R, FME or Python.
