PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Manager of Gas Engineering is responsible for the direct oversight of a ten person group that develops corporate gas long range plans, risk models and prioritizes $25M worth of gas capital distribution reinforcement and replacement work, tracks and adjusts work completion and cost comparisons with work schedule and budget, and oversees major construction projects. Manager interacts with corporate president and vice-presidents as well as directors and other managers. Manager also interacts with US DOT and PA PUC regarding gas regulations and safety issues. Decisions of gas engineering effect corporate policy and financial decisions and customer gas reliability and safety. Manager is responsible for a group capital budget of $ 4.2 M and an expense budget of $ 334 K. Note: Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24x7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Implementation and oversight of US DOT and PA PUC regulations. Management of Transmission & Distribution integrity management programs. 
  • Risk modeling & Prioritization and financial tracking of gas operations $25M dollar capital budget for capacity and replacement work. 
  • Design of gas distribution & transmission pipelines and pressure systems. 
  • Design and construction of gate stations and transmission pipelines, and Gas Plant engineering support. 
  • Preparation of all company gas standards and procedures and Gas Share point Website. 
  • Planning and management of long range gas system capacity and infrastructure. 
  • Investigation and implementation of new technologies, gas benchmarking, and Gas quality programs. 
  • Gas Business Planning and corporate gas initiative management, and represents PECO on various Gas industry organizations

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline and a minimum of 10 years experience in a related field.
  • Management skills such as strategic planning, project and budget management
  • Supervisory and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations affecting the natural gas industry
  • Knowledge of PECO gas system
  • Knowledge of PECO gas standards and procedures
  • Knowledge of gas engineering principles related to the distribution of natural gas
  • Knowledge of gas industry codes and operating practices

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in Engineering or related field.
